there r 2 viet makan place along joo chiat ..... the one near BL has more variety but then have rake in local fare so not so authentic but they do sell Vn kopi for those who want it @1.50 a pop ...... think next time come my house & drink with me ...still got 1/2 kg left .....

as for the shop near 51 ...... current owner is the 3rd generation owner liao ..... the 1st had a mean dark broth for pho bo, the 2nd nothing special and the current owner's red broth is solid just that she dun cook that everyday .....she also have other viet fares on offer but dun really take them ...

Went to this place last night. Its along Nam Ky Khoi Nghia in District 1.
I think its new. There is an advertisement posted outside...with my limited comprehension of Vietnamese, it should say they are looking for PRs 18 to 25 years old.

Once through the door, you will see the long bar counter in front of you. If you are going there alone, its a good idea to sit at the bar counter. A few steps down and there are many small high-tables and stools. Right in front is the dance floor and DJ console. They play pretty decent western music throughout.

I was there at 9pm and not many customers. Glanced around and saw about 20 gals standing around looking bored. Some of them are quite pretty....tall, slim and boobsy type.

The place will slowly get more crowded around 10 pm. Prices are quite reasonable, Heneiken small bottle cost 38,000 dong.

Didn't have a chance to check out the ladies cos I went there with my ger.

For those who like to hunt in local bars, this should be another good one, apart from Cafe 888 which I have reported earlier.

For bros who are awaiting for the price of Tiger Airways to Vietnam, Tiger airways have just announced their price for HCMC to Singapore at US$24.98 w/o tax. They will have 8 flights a week.

This is very good news as bros can fly to VN or VN to Singapore very often.

Went there last night with Bro Singviet.
Address is 259 Tran Hung Dao, District 1.
Actually the place has a bar, a cafe and a family style karaoke.

The bar has quite a number of hostesses.
Some are quite ok and I am quite sure can 'ta bao'.

Drinks prices also reasonable at about SGD 50 for a small bottle of Henessy.

Nice thing about this place is there is ongoing performance on stage, ranging from "vietnam boy-bands" to "canto pop queen" to "uncle-who-use-nose-to-blow-harmonica"....quite interesting.

“Tiger Airways is keen to develop tourism and business traveler traffic into Vietnam by offering attractive low fares not offered by full service airlines serving the two cities. We demonstrated our long-term business commitment to Vietnam when we set up our local office in Hanoi in advance of the award of the landing rights by the Singapore authorities,” said Mr. Tony Davis, chief executive officer (CEO), Tiger Airways.

“With our four brand new Airbus A320s, our experienced team of pilots and cabin crew, we are all ready to service regional travelers on the Vietnam - Singapore route. We are confident our low air fares will attract more passengers to fly and increase tourism and trade, benefiting both Vietnam and Singapore,” said Mr. Davis.

“Our fares will be as much as 80% lower than the current air fares, starting at just USD 24.98 one way plus taxes”, he added.

Once necessary documentation is finalized with the relevant authorities, Tiger Airways will begin its direct flight services from Hanoi and HCMC to Singapore.

Tiger Airways is currently the largest LCC flying between Singapore and Thailand. It has the highest frequency of flights to Bangkok, Phuket, Hatyai and Chiang Mai. Vietnam is the newest destination in Tiger Airways’ expansion of its network in Southeast Asia.

As a part of its long-term commitment to be a Pan-Asian Low Cost Carrier (LCC), Tiger Airways has taken delivery of two additional Airbus A320 jets in January 2005, boosting its fleet to four airplanes, with an aim to meet the transportation demand of savvy travelers to new destinations such as HCMC, Hanoi, Macau and Manila.

Tiger Airways offer more consumer choice to all travelers. Savvy travelers may then make a decision on what additional purchases they need on board the aircraft : food and drink, additional baggage allowance, changes to tickets - all these are options and not built into high fares charged by full-service airlines.
