actually is about the same as HCM but cambodia has something more than HCM, that is ppl pulling out guns, so juz use common sense and keep low profile

i go to lux often too, it is one of the few hotel near the riverside bars that have carpark, happy hunting

Abit more information if staying at Lux hotel or Sisowath Quay (Riverside)

Airport to hotel is about 9-10km. Taxi fare is $12 usd (get the ticket from taxi counter) If they say extra $5, tell them u always pay this amount.
If not, download this app "Exnet Taxi" b4 flying to phnom penh, book a taxi/car to pick u up, Cost is $8 - $10.

Wifi is available at airport, once out of immigration on the right- burger king, costa coffee, all provide free wifi.

Local prepaid sim card - Many telecom counters right outside , I only use "Metfone", so only can give info about this telecom, buy $2 for data will be enough for 3day2night. Else can get $5 too. Calling back SG is only 3cts/min.
(Wifi is almost readily available everywhere is phnom penh)

Money changer - Not a need to change into local currency, just prepare some $1, $5 usd for small change. (If purchase stuff, change will be give back in local currency - riel. )
For usd $100, make sure there's no dark/heavy crease, stamp chop, else most wont take it (yes its very funny here, due to a lot fake usd)


Right opposite Lux hotel have a mini supermart, open 24/7. Can get beverages, snacks, condoms :D

Lux hotel is on the famous 136 street, pubs/bars.
There's this small group of children always hanging out around there, asking foreigners for money, keep your wallet/ handphones in pocket. If don't wanna give, just say a firm No.

For ladies - there's quite a number of Ladyboys hanging out at the bars (notable at Candybar, Mr butterfly) there too, unless ladyboy is own preference , else stay sober :D
Ladies drinks - $2 -3.50 usd
Bar fine is $10 usd
Short time - $40 - 60 usd
Long time - $60 - $100 usd


136 street sometimes is crowded with foreigners, if not can walk abit down to street 110, (Try "Ben's bar, Pretty woman")
After street 110 is Night market, walk further down and its street 104.
If lazy to walk, just take a Tutu and pay $1 - $2.

Food -
Lotsa restaurants around, if wanna try local food. Walk to street 110 and try "Khmer fungus noodles", open by khmer teochew owners.
Roadside cart selling "Banh mi/Nom pang" - half french loaf with veg and pork is delicious too.



Simple khmer phrase:

Address anyone - Bong
Someone younger or lady - Oun
Nice, pretty - Sar Art


ps.
Don't wear fancy and bling bling (keep expensive stuffs back in sg)
Do not leave phones/wallets on table
Do not discuss politics with locals
Caution when using handphone on streets and tuktuk.

I usually get a tuk tuk from the main road from airport to st 136 for us$6.

I don't talk to them and only shown my six-finger sign.

and not more than $30 for st, $60 for lt. I'm still able to get $15-$20 st, 430-40 lt at wam-phom.

Agree on the tutu from airport.
But I always advise my friends coming over to just take taxi to save the hassle. Weather, dust and traffic jams on the way into city.

The point about paying for st,lt. It's on one"s prefence, just try not to overpay the market rate.
Sometimes I drive to wat phnom/nearby and see see look look, quality getting bad. But occasionally still got 6-7 pointer. I rather do pub hopping.

Sisowath quay (riverside) to nagaworld is $2-3usd.
Traveling to central market, bkk, russian market, stay within $2-$4 and it's jusitfy.
Phnom Penh is big but u be amaze that most tourist entertainment stuffs is within few km apart. (Unless going to killing fields).

Read through page 1 to 145 pages took about a few hours and sort of got my trip plan out but wondering any Bros will be there during this coming weekend maybe can meet up to go bar hopping or ktv;)
