Really depends on how is your relationship with the married couples. Last, a group of us went over to HCMC for a SG friend wedding, most us either 1.5 to 2mils. Another I went for my VN colleague wedding in Hanoi as I am so called his boss, I pow 1 mil.

The wedding I like to go most is Cambodia wedding. Cambodia is once the table is full, they will serve dinner. After finished dinner, can shake hand with the couple and leave. Fast n good dun have to wait for those who loves to be late.

Vietnam wedding dinner very late...similar to sinkieland wedding dinner...guests never on time...:)

Thats the bad thing about cockroaches, they will follow and pester you wherever there is things to eat especially seafood and "abalones", so the best approach is still to wipe them out totally :D

There is a big unique difference ;) most wedding guest in Sinkie cant wait to go back early especially if next day is a working day but over there leh you have to practically chase them to go back or tell them the beer has run out liao :D they will get very drunk and take turns singing on stage :D

SG wedding if it starts on the dot then it will end early, unfortunately most guests have this mind set, no need to go early cause sure delay.... Guess same as Thai wedding, a lot stay back for drinks, dancing and singing. Cambodia wedding, go at 6pm, by 6.30 u can leave. :D

Wedding in Cambodia and Vietnam are good to 6c6c cause a lot of gers will put on make up.... a lot plain gers will look good during the wedding dinner. :D I discussing on city wedding in hotel or restaurant not those in tentage in small village :D

Convenience stores in Vietnam quadruple in six years: report

'Modern trade has a much higher growth rate than traditional trade in Vietnam.'


The number of convenience stores in Vietnam has quadrupled over the last six years, according to global data analytics firm Nielsen released at a press conference on Thursday.

“Convenience stores in Vietnam have become popular destinations for young consumers to shop and hang out, as the stores provide them with an air-conditioned environment, well-organized shelves and seating areas, high quality products and, in some stores, free Wi-Fi. It is also easier to get licenses for stores under 500 square meters, which is why retailers have been expanding to gain market share,” said Nick Miles, head of Asia-Pacific at international grocery research organization IGD last month.

“Thanks to the rapid increase in the number of stores, modern trade has a much higher growth rate than traditional trade in Vietnam,” said Nielsen’s executive director Nguyen Anh Dung, as heard in the press release.

The number of modern urban trade stores in Vietnam increased by 10.7 percent on-year during Q1 2018, compared to a decrease of 2.6 percent for traditional stores, according to Nielsen’s Market Pulse report, which looked at 31 fast-moving consumer goods categories in Vietnam.

Dung also said that the number of stores which focus on beauty and health products has doubled over the last two years in Vietnam.

“We also expect the number of small-scale supermarkets in Vietnam to significantly grow in the future,” said Dung.

As of the end of March, Ho Chi Minh City has over 1,800 convenience stores and small-scale supermarkets, an increase of 5.1 percent compared to last year, said a Q1 report on Vietnam’s property market by Chicago-based real-estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle.

Vietnam is forecast to be the fastest-growing convenience store market in Asia by 2021 with a growth rate of 37.4 percent, according to IGD, followed by the Philippines and Indonesia.

Saigon restaurant owner jailed for overcharging Australian diner $30,000

The owner had his staff swipe the customer’s credit cards multiple times.

A court in Ho Chi Minh City sentenced a restaurant owner to seven years in prison for property appropriation on Friday as he made his staff swipe an Australian customer’s cards eight times and charge him $30,000 for a meal.

Tran Tuan Minh, 23, the owner of Nightfall restaurant, was charged with “using computer networks, telecommunications, the internet or digital devices in order to appropriate property.”

The crime he committed was considered serious, but as he had returned all the money to the victim, who agreed to dropped his complaint, the court gave him a commuted sentence.

Caracciolo had dinner at the restaurant on August 11 last year and received a bill of VND23 million ($1,000), according to a complaint filed by a Vietnamese woman on Caracciolo's behalf.

The waiter in question claimed the credit card machine was experiencing "technical errors", so he eventually had to give two cards which were swiped multiple times.

The restaurant did not provide Caracciolo with receipts detailing the charges to his accounts at ANZ and Macquarie banks, the complaint said.

The customer didn't check the transaction until he returned to Australia and received his bank statement, which claimed his cards were swiped eight times for AUD39,429 (around $30,000).

Minh told the court on Friday that he had told the waiter to give Caracciolo six receipts worth around $1,000. He kept the rest and faked the signature.

HCMC, Vietnam's biggest metropolis, is one of the country's top tourist destinations, and received 615,400 foreign arrivals in the first four months of this year, up 25 percent from a year ago.

It is almost the same.... assuming the invitation card states 6-9pm, u can go anytime within the 3 hrs...
