sad indeed. sir alex retired. but mike phelan and eric steele were asked to go. wtf? moyes gave the reason that he wants to establish his own coaching team. although i understand moyes reasoning. but i still can't quite get over it yet.
phelan has really served the club well. steele can be credited to helping de gea become what he is now - a premier league top keeper (that even barca is eyeing). taking this opportunity to thank phelan and steele for their dedicated years of service to united.

glory glory man united!

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours

Meulensteen still at United

Manchester United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen has denied stepping down or being sacked and says he will report for duty at the club at the start of July.

Sir Alex Ferguson retired as manager at the end of the season and it was announced shortly afterwards that assistant boss Mike Phelan and goalkeeping coach Eric Steele had also left their roles.

David Moyes is keen to get his own backroom team in place and it was thought that Meulensteen may also depart Old Trafford.

The Dutchman has been linked with a move to Wigan Athletic to replace Roberto Martinez and his future still appears unclear, but he insists there have been no developments yet and he is still in a job with United.

He told Dutch football magazine ELF Voetbal: "So far I will report on July 1. I am still under contract at the club.

"I didn't step down, and also I was not sacked by Manchester United. I am still employed."

MANCHESTER UNITED will be hoping to button up their noisy neighbours — after revealing their 2013-14 home kit.

David Moyes’ men will defend their Premier League title with a buttoned-down collar for the first time in the modern era.

And it is the first time United will have had a black collar since Eric Cantona was Old Trafford king in the early Nineties.

Rooney: "You need the kit to adapt to whatever the conditions are and make sure you’re as comfortable as possible. I think that’s the main thing, and this kit feels like it’ll do that."

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours

David Moyes was given a challenging start to life as Manchester United manager today, with his new team handed fixtures against Chelsea Football Club, Liverpool FC and Manchester City FC - Official in the first five matches of its Premier League title defence.

MANCHESTER -

Moyes already has a tough job replacing the great Alex Ferguson, who retired after nearly 27 trophy-laden years at Old Trafford, and the release of the 2013-14 fixture list has not given him any respite.

After opening its title defence at Swansea, United hosts Chelsea - also under a new manager in Jose Mourinho - the following weekend. Then United plays great rival Liverpool away before a trip to City on the weekend of Sept 21-22.

Mourinho’s first match in his second spell with Chelsea is at home to newly promoted Hull while Manuel Pellegrini’s first taste of action as City’s new manager comes at home to Newcastle.

“Starting the season at home is a great way for our supporters to show the players they are ready to be behind the team all the way, and at the same time it is a great way for the players to show how much they are motivated and committed,” Mourinho said.

“I am so happy to start at the Bridge.”

The opening round of the season takes place on the weekend of Aug 17-18.

Given all the managerial appointments among the big clubs, it is anticipated that this season’s title race will be one of the most hotly contested in years.

If it goes down to the last day - as it did two seasons ago - United will be away at Southampton, City is at home to West Ham and Chelsea visits Cardiff, one of the other promoted teams.

Arsenal begins the season at home to Aston Villa, Liverpool hosts Stoke and the first game in charge for new Everton manager Roberto Martinez is at Norwich. AP

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours

reading a lot of transfer rumours about players coming in and going out of old trafford.

players i hope moyes when he officially takes office would be :

1. thiago from barca
2. strootman from psv
3. baines from everton

these are realistic targets as compared to wishes for ronaldo or bale.

thiago, the midfield creator, is akin to scholes who has retired and strootman, the muscular box to box midfielder, is akin to keane. no disrespect to carrick, but we do need to strengthen our midfield if we are not to be bullied and overrun by our rivals.

baines is an obvious choice to replace evra.

players i wish to be released :

1. nani
2. anderson
3. young (if we do get bale :p)
4. evra (of we get baines)

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours

The Thiago deal to Bayern Munich shows that Manchester United is a second tier club when it comes to attracting the best players in the world. Thiago rather chose a club where he will be struggling for game time compared to one that can offer him minutes to be part of the consideration in the Spanish World Cup Squad.

Sigh, really don't expect much this season. Sibei Sian

Barcelona announce Thiago sale to Bayern Munich

Barcelona have announced they've accepted a bid from Bayern Munich for Thiago Alcantara.

A short statement from Barca said a fee of €25 million (£21.6m) had been agreed for the 22-year-old.

"FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich have reached an agreement over the transfer of the player Thiago Alcantara to the German club for a total of 25 million (euros)," it read.

"This agreement also includes holding a friendly match between the two teams, which will be played in the next four years."

Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge added: "Thiago Alcantara was the biggest wish of our new coach Pep Guardiola. We are pleased that we have succeeded in this great transfer.

"Thiago has only just been named the best player at the European Under-21 Championship. He is a fantastic player with great perspective, which will strengthen Bayern."

knn, united like expressed our interest in him for weeks but nothing came out of it. pep just suddenly came out of nowhere last friday and say he wants thiago and signs him over the next 2 or 3 days. wtf?

now we are going for fabregas. would barca sell another midfielder so soon after selling thiago? wtf?

putting aside the early setbacks in the transfer market, bro dc7176 i love your avatar. swee lah! next season change to 21 ah? possible? :D
