Encountered no problem going in and coming out through both checkpoints.

Typical Malaysian way of working :D
My kakis told me oso that many vehicles not registry and coming into JB not have to pay as they are too busy to bother during heavy traffic. But it is a different story if you drive in during the period when there are few vehicles eg middle of the night..... then they will ask you to pay the entry fee even if your vehicle is not registry. This money is for their breakfast makan :D

After reading this post, I decided to drive in with a couple of friends to try out the new spa at Holiday Villa hotel. My vehicle is not registered because it is Uber car but I dun care and just drive in.

At the checkpoint the officer ask me "your vehicle not registered yet?"
I reply him I wanted to register but the system was down and cannot register.
"I can do the registration now with you" I told him. He looked at me and then said cannot do for me now as "our system also down" and waved me on. :p

Just to share or mayb I don'tknow how to use.

It seem to me that Uber work differently in jb then in SG..

Over there, seem like no such thing as high or low demand..

Don't have those 2.1x or 1.5x kind of thing. But over here, we alway have.

Probably because Uber drivers keep a low profile there due to the animosity from the taxi drivers. On a couple of occasions I have been directed by my Uber drivers to move to another location away from the taxi ranks before they pick me up and to say a friend (instead of Uber driver) is picking me if approached and asked by another guy.

Although I have not witness any incidents, I have heard stories from Uber drivers that they have been stopped and their passengers harassed by taxi drivers. So now unless it is very difficult to hail a taxi at that time only then I will use Uber.

After I lost my job last year I became an Uber driver for about 6 months before switching to Citycab taxi driver. The situation with Uber/ Grab in Singapore is uniquely different from their operations in other countries because in Singapore these Uber/Grab companies have the government supporting them. The money behind these companies are actually come from the government that's why they have a vested interest to see these companies succeed. People seconded from the government are in the senior management of these companies and they have access to data from LTA & other agencies to plan their strategies for ensuring these companies succeed.

Wow real life 无间道! :p

Just curious why you switch to become Citycab taxi driver?
Not satisfied with Uber's terms?

When I was with Uber, I was pulling in @ $9K gross monthly driving from 8.00am to 9.00pm every Mon-Sat. Sunday was my rest day. But after deductions for rental, petrol, fees, parking + miscellanous, my net take home is only @ $3K

I switched to driving a regular taxi for Citycab as a relief driver. My shift is everyday from 6.00am to 5.00pm. After all deductions I can still have take home @ $3.5-3.8K monthly.

Re: JB Info Sharing/TCSS/Discussion/Point Exchange Thread

Would like to share an experience I had with the Mudland authorities.
I had decided to make a quick turnaround trip to JB a couple of days ago. On seeing the traffic jam at the causeway I parked my car at Woodlands Centre and took a ride on bus 170 into JB.

No problem crossing Woodlands checkpoint but problem at the Mudland immigration. As I presented my passport to the officer manning the counter, he took some time to scrutinise my passport. He requested me to fingerprint both my index fingers. I dunno what he saw but he called another officer over and both of them had a discussion. I was then told they would like to interview me and led me to a room at another part of the building. What the hell is going on?

Inside the room they started to question me on my travel history, about the places I had been to and the whys and what I have been up to in those places.
They seem especially interested in the Philippines and asked a lot of questions about my trips there. But the thing was, my last trip to the PI was more than a year ago and it was a short 3D2N stay at AC. They conducted a search on me and went through the contents of my hand phone including browsing my Facebook and wechat accounts and contacts list. Luckily this was my work mobile and "clean" while all my naughty stuff were in the other handphone. :)

After about 3 hrs of Q&A, I was allowed to enter Mudland but my mood was already gone so I just u-turn and came back to SG. Before I left the room I asked the interviewers why was I targeted. Apparently it was because my passport had the Philippines "chop" showing that I had visited that country and they are on alert for travellers who had been to the PI.

The Mudland authorities have stepped up security checks for the coming festive season and those of you who had been to the PI may find yourself in a similar situation, so be prepared if you are lucky and happen to be the "Chosen One" like me. :D

Hi All,

I've checked high and low for local FL in JB and did not manage to find it. It is really hard to locate a local fl in JB area compared to KL area.

Would appreciate some contacts from the bros in here. Thanks.

Anyway, alot of thing can happen during this festival period as they step up their security. At the same time, they are hungry for some cash too to earn extra.

That's a stupid thing to do.... now times have changed and all the counters have cctv monitors. To makan your money is suicide for the officer and most probably he will report you for bribery instead.

The modus operandi for kopitiam money has change...... instead of giving money to the cops now..... you volunteer to donate to charity but do this only if the cop ask you want to make donation onot cos you wun know whether that particular cop is on the take ... :D

It is the same in every country around the region now...... S'pore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand have all step up security on the lookout for certain group of persons. Intel oredi disseminated to boots on the ground on these targets but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.
