Ya, noticed that the gers look much younger but not as much make-up or sexy dress as in the ktv in town. And language is a problem too ... these gers only converse in khmer ... Guess one motivation for me to pick up khmer soon ;)

Just for your info, according to new marriage requirements issued on by the Government of Cambodia on 7 March 2011, males wishing to marry Cambodian women must:
• Be under 50 years of age, and
• Have a monthly income of at least US $2,500

This is to ensure that the Cambodian woman can at least live a financially decent life.

That means that no adult male in Cambodia earn less than US$2.5k otherwise no-one can get marry.....
this is way better than SG man.... We don't even have min wage that ensure we earn more than US$1k

These are just bullshit :D How many men in Cambodia earn this to live financially decent life? Cambodia is a country where the govt think more of their own pocket than the people. If anyone worries about the silly policies then go Singapore and marry. Why bother to trouble about the silly policies from the Cambodia govt? :confused: BTW I have not heard of these silly polices.... A lot of ang mos married Khmer gers without problem.... Be it money or age.

It's true this has been bantered on in Parliament but far as I know it has not been carved in stone. Like many laws in this country, especially one as knee-jerked as this, the bark is worse than the bite.

What sets this off is a lot of Cambo women has been married and brought back to Korea and China and abused and/or 'sold' to other unmarried men.

And yes, this only involves foreigners. Unthinkable for locals.
