Only reason is Ten Hag has worked with him before. Very obvious pattern to his signings. At that ridiculous price, would rather they took a punt on "better-than-Haaland" Benjamin Sesko.

and it seems the deal has been done but albeit at such a high price than is necessary had they pursued him earlier when the window just opened n he was available at a much cheaper price...:)

this goes to show their talent recruiters r half-hearted, lazy, sleeping n stingy pple n ought to be sacked not daring or wanting to spend on the players they say they want or need like wanting Darwin Nunez when they already knew their problems ages n many seasons ago needing to get a good defensive midfielder n a good quality prolific striker such as Haaland, Nunez, Benjamin Sesko etc, etc who can score 20++ goals for them each season...

see how City n Pool r now benefitting n paying dividends from their investments in their 100 million pounds strikers...Haaland scoring a hattrick against Palace n Nunez too...like i always say they r penny wise pounds foolish...waiting till the last minute to get them n failing to as they hv been snapped up much earlier by their arch rivals n now having to pay exorbitant fees for 2nd rated strikers still left on the shelf :(...giv up on them...n they want to just depend on Rashford, Sancho n Martial to bang in the goals for them to win cups n titles for them ...fat hope...they r just ordinary inconsistent strikers, don't think they can manage more than 7 goals each this season even if they tried n play well...just the 3 of them

Anyway, the MOTM again was Martinez....really work his socks off doing all the interceptions. His reading and positioning really good.
What I like about him, he will try to cut off the danger when he sees it before the sh*t arrived too near for comfort.
And when DDG makes a spectacular save, he went to congratulate him.
Excellent signing!

his defensive stats at ajax were good despite him being only 1.75m, his aggressive style is what the backline been lacking

i read somewhere that he stated he will win all the 50-50 challenges because he has to put food on the table, u know he will give his all in every match he plays. he likely comes from less fortunate background and hence the strong desire and drive to succeed as a footballer

yeah its understandable, martinez and antony are familiar with ten hag's system (eg. when mourinho first came to chelsea from porto, he signed p.ferreira and r.carvalho). by signing antony, ten hag will want the current batch of wingers in the squad to mimic antony, although its a really expensive demonstration. it also goes to show that ten hag don't trust the wingers to carry out his instructions, it might not bode well for some

ten hag missed out on sesko though, but career/development wise BPL might be too big a jump for him from austrian league. with martial injury prone and an aging CR7, ten hag will need a "Drogba" to lead the attack, can he sign one before the window closes?

There is talk of Maguire starting as Varane's fitness must be managed for Arsenal's visit... which means no clean sheet. Head says 1:1, but hoping to see more goals, so:

Leicester City 2 : 2 Man Utd

If Maguire play I think we are going to lose

But if he doesn’t start… a slim 1-0 win for Manchester United

If I m not wrong, heard they say ETH wants to rest Varane for the next match against Arsenal, so Mcdisaster has to play

It's not 'after a few matches' in this case. It's a mid-week match, and we have one less day to recover than Arsenal by the time they meet this Sunday. Quite common for clubs with bigger squads to rotate, which is the point of bigger squads.

Just unfortunate for us that we only have Maguire to rotate

My exact sentiments....

Lest not forget, Mcdisaster is ex-Leicester player...means will give old club a goal or two.

I seldom make prediction...but I will go with Leicester 3 - 1 Man U.
Leicester with early goal.

Is Antony starting? I guess not.

What about Lindelof? Injury?

Putting Mcdisaster on is suicidal....might as well throw match and give Leicester all 3 points.

Think only Martial is out. Now it seems the predictions are that Varane will not be rested. Fingers crossed.
