Thanks for the positive review fellow samsters.

Another tip - to figure out if your hotel is GF friendly, talk to the pimps that walk the street at night. They know it all.

Tourist spots are Ben Thanh/New World, the Zoo area, around Sheraton and down towards the river and the Riverside Renaissance hotel. Other street action includes any of the little parks in town. Parks are used for local couples to sit and make out (or do more!) and for girls looking to find you.

I strongly advice against taking these girls on back of bikes. Not safe. It is not to say that all are bad but I would say the chances of being rob/extorted are very very much higher. Especially if you dont speak the language, it will put you at a big disadvantage. This is my personal point of view....

MGM has closed for over a month now. Palace Club is reopening this week.

The girls are more interesting and fun at the clubs than the billiards places.

eeerrr.....Just passed by X-club this evening and it still looks close....

HOpe you do not take offence to my postings....

I did not know Pacific is closed. Have not been there for a while.

Palace was to reopen today, but they rescheduled for the 29th.

I do not know about you, but everybody who is local considers Pacific a budget airline. It is damn budget compared to Vietnam Airlines. I never fly Pacific because of the reputation it has locally.

No problem with adding information. :)

Hi all bro, want to share this information with everyone. Most of the info here introduce about pubs, bars, or msg palours, i like to share something else.

Was brough by my local friends here to a place near Saigon Bridge via Dien Bien Phu street, which you have to turn to right before you cross the bridge.

Once there, I saw a groups of more than 10 girls were just sitting beside streets eating. Once you approach close, or even just stop, there'll be local OKT on motorbike approaches you. The negotiation is done by my friend, but the rate is only 200k, include hotel and CD.

Once price negotiation done, you then pick a girl from the group. I will say they are only 5~6 out of 10, but all quite young. My friend got a 21 years old and i got a 22.

Interesting part begin after you pick ur girl, you will hop on onto a OKT's bike, then they will ride you light speed to a nearby hotel, while the girl on another bike behind you. Go into the hotel, pay for room (included in the 200k), grab ur key, then do your thing!

SOP for the deal, bath, BBBJ, cap you then ride you until u r done. after that, bath again, walk out the hotel, and u have to find ur own transport back to where you want to go.

Don't knock my head, for a newbie report like this, but interested friend can pm me for exact location.

Service of the girl is lousy, but consider the price, what the heck? Drawback is that you really need a local friend or you really speak the language. Heard from my local friend that if you are familiar with the OKT already, u can even arrange the girl back to ur hotel. It's much more better due to safety reasons.

To Bro Whoisdey,

I read thru your informative posting but I feel that there are some corrections still need to be made. (Reaper has already corrected some). Please do not take any offence about my posting too.

1. Taxi. SASCO Taxi cost more than many other taxi companies. Try MaiLinh group taxi. I feel it is one of the best around. The taxi fare has already gone up recently.

2. Communication. Auto roaming is very expensive. Starhub charge me SGD2.60/min for incoming call. So try your best not to Auto-roam. Get a VN number. WIFI is free in most Cafe. For Highland Cafe, U need to register but it is still free. U can find cafe offering free WIFI in almost any corner in HCMC.
Mobifone & Vinafone belongs to VNPT. Viettel belongs to Military.

3. The average income of a VN is never USD1,000. A fresh grad get about VND2.5 million. A government servant (e.g. Police) is paid only VND1 million a month. Most waiter or Waitress are paid VND1 Million but they are also tips by the customers. 1 PR in Disco is paid about VND1.2 million basic but she can draw about VND20 million a month easily.

Maybe one day we should meet up since you are also staying in HCMC like me.

Yo!!!

Prices have gone up twice in 6 months. This has something to do with the increase in petrol prices.

Not all PRs have a salary. Those that dont, rely completely on TIPS from customers. Just like alot of the massage girls working in Massage places

SASCO has the contract for the airport - it may be a little more expensive than Mai Linh, but not that much more. Within the last 3 months my fare was about 60k - not the $12 USD some people got charged by other taxis. If you take the bigger, 7 passenger taxi than it will be more than the sedan.

When you are in the city, you will only see Mai Linh or the Comfort taxis, just like Singapore. They are both pretty much the same price. The flag drop fare has increased a few times since 2007, but it is still about 15-16k.

Yes, get a local number. Auto roam works but use a local number, no arguments there. You may be right about who owns which operator, but I find that Mobifone works less well than Viettel in the city, and the opposite in the provinces. SIM cards are cheap, so I carry both.

I do not know about PR girls in discos, but the average income in Vietnam, according to international sources, is about $800 in 2007. But like I said, this includes all the rural population making $400 a year, pulling the average down.

The government sector makes very little, officially, but they stay in the job for unofficial benefits. The minimum factory wage is about $65 a month, with foreign owned factories having a minimum wage of about $90; and there are geographical increases to the minimum wage laws - the closer to the big cities, the more you have to pay.

I work in a field that requires good language skills from the locals. All the locals who are fresh graduates are looking for 4 million, maybe more! The more they speak English, the more they get paid. Being non-locals, the girls we talk to on our nights out speak English, so we should expect to pay more.

Of course my thinking is based on talking to locals, and you (hopefully!) talk to different locals. If we talk to the same girls that is damn funny. Just more information to share is all. No offense taken and no offense meant.

Have a fun holiday everybody. And do not book my girls!

yo bros,

I have one question.. In Singapore, we have GPRS, meaning we can surf on the go.. For example, if there is a place in Singapore without wifi, we can still go online via GPRS. Is there such a service provided by the telecos in HCM?

rgds,
vlover

For vlover, all the SIM card telcos have GPRS. I do not know about the CDMA telcos, like HT Mobile and S-Fone.
