SINGAPORE : Temasek Holdings has completed its takeover of the Thai telecom conglomerate, Shin Corp.

In a filing with Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission, Temasek says its consortium now holds a 96.12 percent stake in Shin.
All in, the purchase is valued at US$3.8 billion, or almost S$6.2 billion.

Thaksin raises possibility of stepping down temporarily
BANGKOK : Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said Wednesday he would consider stepping down for a period of time to ease the political crisis gripping the kingdom.

But Thaksin also said he had no immediate plans to give up the prime minister's job.

"I am open to considering every solution,(meaning he's waiting for completion of the shares)" the embattled premier said, when asked if he would consider stepping down temporarily.

"I still have to decide what to do. I will make the best decision when the time comes (still waiting for the completion of shares) " Thaksin told reporters in the town of Buriram in northeastern Thailand, where he was campaigning for April 2 snap elections.

"If there is anyone who could work instead of me, I would not cling to my position," (completed liao..and i am SGD6.2 Billion richer...!! so who cares who is PM now or in the future..) he said.

Well said, right on the buttons. Only reason he's holding out, just so the deal goes through (sorry I mean the dough $$$ or bt bt bt). This bloody screws up the sgd/bt exchange rate for small fries like me.:mad:

I was referring to thb below 24 mark over last 1-2 months dragged down by Temasek's payout. Drinl less beer, but kena pay more to puyings for dollar's worth. Small mercies, looks better recent days. :o

Since you are now freed up from your money changing booth, maybe you can tempt us more with puyings stuff...:p
