I do not see the point of using Uber if u are in the city esp HCMC. Empty taxis are almost everywhere. Worse, if no taxi as I am in a super ulu street or full of ppl waiting for taxi then I will use either grab or easy taxi.

No hard feeling lah, but u like that say makes newbie scare to ask question leh. We friendly here right?:D

I asked about the safety of uber cos there're some issues of its operation in Vietnam. There were crackdowns on uber drivers, but I think those visit Vietnam often should be used to crackdowns. Just not sure if it's safe now.

As I said it's an option like grabtaxi app mah, not about if ones opinion think of uber. Of cos u can have your opinion, another bro can have another lah.

The question is simple, is it safe to use uber in HCM or not. Meaning asking those bro who used uber (prefered recently) in HCMC b4 for their opinion on its safety.

ahh don't wanna be dragged into who is a nice guy or who is clone things or who is agent. Been there in 2009-2010, don't wanna get involved again.

It's just a simple question, either have answer or don't have. I'm perfectly happy if no one answer than getting dragged into something else:rolleyes:

edit: on side note not want get involved in anything, H88 has been nice to me by helping with my questions throughout these years, even though we never meet. Like the recent question I'd ask him, he's unsure he just tell me so. Personally I respect that, as not trying to act smart :) So yeah, to me (not speaking for anyone else and just my personally opinion) H88 is a nice guy.

Then u r asking an opened question. It is like asking is taking Vinasun, Malinh safe?

In general Uber, Vinasun and Malinh are safe. If u are asking for your personal safety then it all depends on your luck, Vinasun, Malinh or Uber driver will or will not drive u to a corner n rape u. If your safety is on driver driving recklessly then again Vinasun, Malinh or Uber can drives like F1 or drive slowly and carefully.

U can read in the news, Uber driver raped passenger but u also can read normal taxi driver also raped passenger so is Uber or normal taxi safer?

It's a general question leh, no need so complicated 555

Like if a tourist ask you is Singapore safe? Are you to give a long statistic of how many criminal cases in Singapore compared to all world countries, then you give ur opinions that based on these you say Singapore is safe or unsafe?

But I do appreciate you wrote "In general Uber, Vinasun and Malinh are safe." For that I thank you:D

I am a newbie so don't Duduct my points. Years back I was almost cheated riding on a cyclo. I just walked back to the hotel while my friends were arguing why they needed to pay extra. I brought the hotel bellhop with me and told him to call the police. The cyclo drivers grudging decided to quickly settle for less.

If u want to use über then go to the setting and look for the latest features in their apps : chose a female driver. Chose age range 19-24. Language - English.
My wish list is still ' do u wish to be raped by your driver' button. Trust me, they will work to improve the apps.

Is Vietnam safe? Oh yes. Will taxi drivers ripe you off? Will the local carrot-chop the tourists? How can we answer these questions with certainly? I don't have all the answers n neither will anyone else. Confronted with new situations, old location or old situations in new locations or .... The permutations of risk propensity goes on. My take is this : be careful and don't throw caution out with the wind. But don't be overly cautious that u can't try new things. There are merits and also disadvantages of a guided trip. But being on solo is not to bad at all. The trick is to find a balance in it all. If you think you are clever, your hubris will do u in. Most here will ask you to come in here with a measure of humility. For me, I have been a silent reader for the longest time here and sometimes my comments overstays it's welcome. So, I suck it up and try to make my next trip and yet another next trip a memorable one. Some days I feel old and tired. Others days I try to squeeze out another extra bullet to make it a bang for buck 'experience'. I say just define your goal each time and not forget to put in a trip report once in a while. So that we can celebrate your journey. Even if someone duduct your points, be happy to know your trip enjoyment has not diminished, especially when you look back with glee you have accomplished your mission. Have fun n be safe bro.

I do agree with what u said bro :) Normally before any trip I just like to see my options based on the time I have. I preferred solo or in small group I can click, easier this way. Everyone has their own opinions on stuffs, which I can respect, but just don't think everyone must think the same way  Points not that important lah, as long don't get moderate can liao 555

The longer one stay in forum, the lesser one will write a TR I think. That excitement is different from when we started out. Anyway most TR from people like me are just those closer to what tourist will go, if have those private shared joints cannot really write also. If write end up a bro u know want the location, but can't give cos u promised another bro never to give out.

Pardon me if I offend any bros here, but every time I read HCM thread (1-3) over the years (like wrong timing I think). I always see there's people who loves watch drama, or people who loves being in drama, or people who loves start drama, or people who gets dragged into drama. For me I just hate dramas :p Just try get whatever update info I need and calls it a day. Unless I really have question then ask.
