Re: Vietnam - HCM
Wow, PM Lee notice about samster gathering in HCMC:eek: Maybe they should include this forum as a reference :D
SINGAPORE: Singapore and Vietnam celebrate 35 years of bilateral relations on August 1. President SR Nathan, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Foreign Affairs Minister George Yeo have sent congratulatory messages to their Vietnamese counterparts on this occasion. In his letter to Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet, President Nathan said relations between the two countries have taken great leaps forward in many areas. Singapore is now one of Vietnam's largest investors and trading partners. President Nathan urged both Singapore and Vietnam to keep up and intensify efforts towards ASEAN's further integration. Writing to Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong noted that bilaterally, ties between both countries are underpinned by interactions at the political level and the Framework Agreement on Singapore-Vietnam Connectivity. At the people-to-people level, Mr Lee noted that more Singaporeans are visiting Vietnam and some are even learning the language. Singapore also welcomes the increasing number of Vietnamese visiting here to work, study and play. Foreign Affairs Minister George Yeo noted that relations between the two countries are growing broader and deeper by the day. So he wants to work together with his counterpart, Mr Pham Gia Khiem, to hasten this process further. |
