I think its wrong to say that those that are "really rich" wont visit such KTVs. Thats like saying rich people dont go to kopitiam to eat. Don't even talk about dabao girls. I know of people that open martel by the carton and sit multiple butterfly girls a session @ MH rates of $150/girl.

Whether ya'll believe that such rates were offered, its up to you. I'm just sharing what i've seen offered before my eyes that there are people that are willing to pay such amounts of money.

Nowsdays Ktv is so expensive if u going like only 2 persons ,
martell or beer promo is around $300 or $400 per set
mummy tips $100
ladies $100 - $150 ( no more $50 )
at least 2-3 server will take turn come your room ( $10 tips)
so total damage is like $600 - $650 if you are a light drinker
each person damages is like $250 - $300 + ladie $100
if u want to enjoy more need 2 girls because lady will butterfly

so best is 4 guys go ktv and spilt the amount of drinks and mummy tips
if you are lucky enough my of your friend will steady pay for mummy tips and server ,

so u share the drink and your own lady damage will be like $200 -$300

We also not forgetting about those "manager" or "dua san", some places mummy will also teh with you ask u to help look after them.

Why? Maybe agreement on commission of alcohol, by pushing new customer,
Why? cos usually they are the first met for new customer. and new customer that dont do some research will usually follow. Some even ask them "who ang pai" "here who good" "who dare to play" .

Not everyone can dont go SG KTV. Not everyone has the excuse to go jb. :D so bo Bian. Hopefully those who can and don't visit local KTV and thus will bring the price down.
