Was this place located ON Nguyen Phi Khanh street itself, or was it in a small side street off of it. There's one karaoke I went to once that is in that last side street on the left before you reach the main intersection where Lotteria is at Tran Quang Khai. I went to another one that was down on the main NPK street closer to Vo Thi Sau, but I think that one no longer exists now. I don't search for these places, so I don't remember if the main street still has some. I did ride past the one on the side street and it was still there, as of November last time I was round there. I just looked at Google Maps and the side street is called Huyen Quang. If you go into that street then there is just one karaoke / bia om there, one can not miss it.

it seems not knowing the language has certain benefits, while knowing it has drawbacks: no need to waste time singing and chatting, just go straight to the sucking and kissing. Poor you. :D

And typically the motorbikes are facing with their backs (thus license plates) to the wall, so that no one can identify which bike it is, that's for privacy. But they don't always do that.

Did you test this one out? I haven't been to these NPK karaokes in years, but once I went completely solo, to the one in the main street. I was ushered in and taken to a room, a lineup brought in for me to select from. No problem. I also checked out the one in the side street when I was by myself, and they seemed eager for me to come right in, just me. Later I did go back with a friend, but they did not seem to have any problem with me being their customer if I was alone. It is strange to go to these places by oneself, and not cost-effective at all, but why wouldn't they want you to be their customer if you are going solo?

What is NDC? I assume it's an abbreviation for a street name. Maybe it's one that is super obvious but I can't think of which street this would be at the moment.

I don't know which place he is talking about exactly, but my previous post describes how to find at least ONE of thees places near NPK street. There are quite a few of these bia oms (as locals call them) on Tran Quang Khai street (that is a street which intersects with NPK). If you travel the length of that TQK street you will spot them if you look for the descriptions he and I mentioned. Motorbikes parked inside with maybe just a desk in the back somewhere, usually with pink or some colored light. The action is located upstairs. There seem to be some also on Vo Thi Sau near NPK street. An Duong vuong in district 5 has lots of them, also side streets off of it such as Le Hong Phong, and Nguyen Trai near there has some. Also a few together on Nguyen Bieu between Nguyen Trai and Tran Hung Dao. And not to forget Tran Hung Dao itself, starting at Nguyen Van Cuu street and beyond in D5. Fortune at 700 THD is a famous one (and high end). I am not a bia om guy, so this is just what I have noticed while driving around. Some here actually go to these places and know the scene far better than me.

I realize people feel nervous about it, but I think if you rent a bike in the backpacker district for a cheap per day price, that's the best way to go explore. So much more flexibility than taxi or walking. The place renting those out seem to only require that you have 2 arms, 2 legs and a head. The only paper they want is money.

Not an expert in bia om anyway, a word of advice do not select the first group of girls the mommy brought in. If the girls are not to your liking just tell the mommy to bring in more girls. Went to HCM over the xmas weekend… I like to explore the various districts on a bike, and hardly entered D1 as I find it too touristy.
Here’s my experiences. Thanks to Bro W for providing some leads.

Day 1
Reached my usual hotel at 6+. Borrowed a bike and asked the hotel staff for recommendations for countdown party. I know there’s a Vuvuzela nearby but it aint fun. The staff recommended Guru Bar, said it was “more fun” than Vuvuzela. Pui. Not much differences. Basically both are restaurant pubs where there are many dining tables for you to have your food. Guru bar has a live violin band, magic shows and dancers on stage. That’s their idea of clubbing. I stayed or an hour and decided to beep for FLs. Sent at least 10 smses but none replied. Gave up and went to the Monica Massage next door for a rub. Ticket 200k, and has a Jacuzzi pool, sauna, steam boat and tv room. The massage, as with usual Vn massage, was strong and good. Even the DJ also came much later, about 7.20pm. one thing good about this place is the internet is super fast.. about 50 mbps. I watched a drama episode there.
009 is quite empty compared to 173. Only less than 5 customers, and most of the girls are outside sitting. That area has a lot of food stalls btw..

Interestingly, the songs they sang are hong kong birthday songs and 1970s kung fu drama tunes. I stood there for 30mins to make sense out of it.
That’s all for me. Early next day, flew back to Sg. The babies on the flight are terrible. Crying non stop.

Nice FR Bro Singlun....The 500+ is at Truong Son or Su Van Hanh ? Any hotels in that area so that Massage, DJ Cafe and Hotel are all within walking distance and no need to take cabs. Did you explore all these places using Google maps or traditional maps ?

Also renting a bike for flexibility sounds like a good idea, but how do you know their parking rules, where to park, how much parking coupon to put etc and what if you come back after your bia om session only to find your bike missing ? Why take these risks & end up paying more?:confused:

The 500+ is at Su Van Hanh. Hotels with massage are aplenty. But DJ Cafes are at the 100+ section. The sections in between, i think the 200 - 400, i didnt explore. Just simply ride past.

I used Waze to navigate around. Google map as a back up only. But these maps only bring you to the named streets, not quite to the numbers itself.

The parking rules are not difficult to work out. Wherever you go, you can simply park at their doors. Bigger businesses like hotels, restaurants and cafes have their own parking security. For big buildings or McDonald in D1, where you ride into the car Park,they will collect 5k dongs from you. When you have uncle ho, anything is easy.
Of course, no men's land like parks and gardens have no security. That's where you need to be careful.
Oh ya, riding against the traffic is common there. I do it all the time.

Almost any business you visit has parking, and if it is the kind of business that you must spend time inside where you can't see your bike, it probably will have someone there to watch the bikes, and most times they give you a ticket to keep so you present that when you come back to retrieve your bike again. Sometimes have to pay, sometimes not. As you will notice, the driving style here is almost anything goes. Make turns using petrol stations as part of the road. No problem. Drive on sidewalks, no problem. Wrong way, ok. Through red light even. Actually I try not to do any of these things, but ok I am definitely guilty of having at least sometimes done each one.
