Btw, abt your question abt purchasing a new hdb flat, yes you can. If you are legally married, then it shouldn't be a problem.

no,u are wrong.singaporean who marry a foreigner holding a ltvp cannot buy a new hdb flat under joint name even legally marry cos ltvp holder still consider a foreigner.

the ltvp holder spouse can stay in the flat but not join name to buy a new hdb flat

1 more question, can a sgp citizen + LTVP spouse purchase a new hdb?

Guess is only Resale .... LTVP must have at least 6 mths validity.

Check HDB website, there is a section on these.

SPR definitely earn more privilege compare to LTVP e.g medical, housing, financial services etc...

then you are wrong ...

The new LYVP PLus now comes with subsidise Medical Benefit.

My wife is now on LTVP but I have brought her Insurance (need to pay extra 10% foreigner add-on) and Medi-Shield

understand they do came with medical benefit but if u see the chart SPR still gain more than ltvp+ in Day Surgery 45% & Specialist Outpatient Clinic 30%.

this kind of service easily hit 10k or more thus 45% is $4.5k if we use 10k as illustration

my view is SPR is still more advantageous than ltvp+

Of course and Obvious SPR is way advantage than LTVP + ....

BUT IF there is no LTVP + and Cannot Get SPR ... HOw ? Suck Thumb Right ? n Situation Would have been more worse ... So You want to pay Full Un-subsidised Amount or any amount that is Subsidised ? THINK ?

SO its better than NONE ... So we have to learn to be Contented ...

Yap, u are right. I bought a 3 rm resale with my wife having a 6 mths LTSVP validity back in 2004. She only allowed to be listed as an occupier I think.

Back then, I was eligible for a 12.5k singles grant. But I didn't take up the offer.

I made one of the most risky choice of my life. But it ended up giving me the most returns. We are planning to sell and get a BTO, our sales profit will be abt 200k after returning the interest accrued to my CPF. :D

You are right. My wife is on LTSVP too & I bought a resale flat in 2006. Yes, it's true she can only be listed as a occupier. My oversight is that we have a son and I got d full grant when i bought the flat. Sorry about the wrong info.

questions:
1) has she been staying in sinkie for more than 90 days in the past 6 months...
2) did she explained in english that she had lost her passport and got a replacement...
3) Is her name in the new passport same as the old passport which was "lost"...
4) did she declared in the D/E white card that she had been in Singapore using another passport...
5) you mentioned "her family back here do to help"...care to explain how she has a family here...

answer is very simple...if she fail in any of the 1 to 4 above then she will be asked to go back...:p

Bro Hurricane,
I see, I didn't ask from her these details as she was very upset.
She came for 50 days in a 5mths period. She has a sister who is a PR.
Most prob is her passport issue as she got a passport replacement when she lost her old 1. But i not sure what was spoken and since she speaks Chinese only.
High chance is 2 and 4.

Hi all, first post.

Used to have a Thai gf of 2 years. Same thing cam in and out of sg numerous times but there was once that she got sent back to Thailand when she's trying to pass the sing customs for no reason even when she gave proof of our joint account showing sufficient balance.

Was freaking du LAN and even thought of marrying her so she could stay here permanently. So I planned many things such as buying of hdb etc.

Came to realize it's going to financially tough on my shoulders. Downpayment is going to be on me, servicing of monthly installments, if she give birth no subsidies. As I don't come from a rich family, alot of sacrifices has to be made. My friends told me in long term I will regret.

Ended up we broke off. It's not easy but good luck. Just my side of the story.

Hi Bros, gd day. I'm new here and need snr bros advice.

I have a Thai GF and she wud like to come here for holidays in Jul. Read thru the forum on some past experiences by bros/friends etc and need advice on below.

1. She will be coming here for 30 days to visit me and some sight seeing. She is 1st timer to Spore and clean records. Will ICA ask her my relationship with her? Prob i have is I'm still married and going thru a divorce. (She got nothing to do with my decision on divorce). She will be staying wif me (my lau bu hse) and i have already gotten her 27 days later flight back to Thailand.

2. Have read about ICA checking the marital status of the BF. Is this true?

3. I have thought of booking her a tour package for 14 days but is this feasible?

4. My only concern is for her to be send back because I'm still legally married. I don't mind her telling Immi that she know I'm married and going thru a divorce but will this backfire?

I'm newbie here. Hope dun flame me and thanks in advance for all the advice....

I am curious. Are you sponsoring her or else ICA would not bother who you are.

If she came on her own merit, she may get up TO 1 month visa since Thailand is part of ASEAN.

1. just get her to fill in your lau bu address in the white card...

2. dun need to mention your name...

3. 1st time should be allowed in...dun think will ask any question...just ask her to dress innocently...

4. unfounded...irrelevant...make sure she has euogh to spend in singapore...if ica officer wants to see how much she has...in sgd or usd...
