When the child was born she listed the child's biological father's name in the child's birth certificate instead of her own husband's name.

But this child had no problems getting his passport or going to school because his mother has a valid marriage certificate albeit married to another man that was not his father. :)

so this register of birth is done in Singapore?? If this is the case then I learn something new...also the kid will know that the father name is not the mothers legal hubby...I thought in Singapore if you want to register father name you need to show marriage cert...if no marriage cert then father name is empty...:)

Is that so? I think you may be wrong. Some time ago I had a tenant who rented a room from me. She was a single mother with a 3 yr old daughter. Initially I thought she was a divorcee but as time passed we became good friends.

She was a sales promoter and came to know a guy in the course of her work. They became an item and one year later she became pregnant with his child. She expected him to take responsibility and marry her but was stunned when he confessed that he is married and has another family. He is unable to marry her as his wife refused to agree to a divorce. She gave birth to their daughter and the guy was named as the father in the daughter's birth certificate. She definitely did not have a marriage certificate to show to the registrar. So what is the law in this area?

Maybe some legal experts here can give some insight?

Refer to http://www.ica.gov.sg/page.aspx?pageid=144

It indicate that proxy may be eligible and marriage cert(if applicable)

Me is no legal expert but I can speak from insider knowledge of gahmen departments. :D

For registration of birth it is not compulsory to have a marriage cert.
If married can show.... if not married no need to show.
More important is location of the birth and the mother's identity..... father not so important. :p

so another words...a woman can put any fathers name...without the man knowing and approving it...I dun believe such things can be done in Singapore....as what was stated in ICA for register of birth...:)

you need to show both original parents NRIC and original ROM cert...as stated clearly in the ICA website...can someone tell me otherwise...:)

of course if no marriage cert then fathers name will be empty...you cannot just simply put any father name without the man approving it and showing his original NRIC...unless the man himself wanted to put his name as father even when he is not married to the mother...:)

If you want to put the man's name as the father... you need to produce that man's nric.

you need to show both original parents NRIC and original ROM cert...as stated clearly in the ICA website...can someone tell me

ROM cert is not compulsory.... even if you produce the ROM cert it will not be reflected in the child's birth cert..... they just record the ROM cert number into the database for easier future reference if necessary.

of course if no marriage cert then fathers name will be empty...you cannot just simply put any father name without the man approving it and showing his original NRIC...unless the man himself wanted to put his name as father even when he is not married to the mother...:)

Of course the father's name can be reflected in the child's birth cert with proof of his identity usually the NRIC... unless he objects to it.

Re: Issue with ICA

To all the bro out,

A close friend of mine married a Malaysian wife, his wife have been working in SG for about eight years and was holding a work permit all along.

Shortly after the ROM, his wife went for a medical check up as this is a requirement by MOM for all work permit holder once in every two years.

The nightmare came, she was tested HIV positive, therfore her work permit was cancelled. However she stay in Sg for another 2months (husband went to extend her visit pass at ICA) and went to Bangkok for treatment. When my friend and her wife arrive back to Singapore from Bangkok, his wife was denied entry, and was deported back to Malaysia. As my friend ask for the reason for the refues of entry, they just say its confidential and ask my friend to go ICA and appeal, and my friend told me he strongly believe that it must be the MOH that pass his wife record to ICA.

Since they just got ROM, my friend was very sad and hope to appeal with ICA to allow entry for his Malaysian wife. He do not expect any PR, work permit, LTVP approval from ICA, but just hope that ICA can lift up the banned and grant her entry as he love his wife alot depsite her condition.

My question is

1) Will ICA grant the entry for my friend wife?
2) In future, will she be able to apply LTVP in SG?
3) Is there a chance for her to be banned from entering SG for her whole life?

Currently, she got a W30 chop on her passport and wonder what does that mean.

Please advise if any bros out there can help a good friend of mine.

Thank u in advance.

Advise your friend to go stay in Malaysia with his wife. Less stressful and lower cost of living than Singapore.

I doubt any can help you here. This is an exceptional case and is reviewed on case-to-case basis. Because there's no clear line on this so the officer might grant or reject. But I think LTVP is alittle too much for ICA to handle. Best is to go straight to ICA. MP after that.

In the first place how come as a work permit holder she went to ROM? They are not supposed to get married to Singaporeans in Singapore during the validity of the permit. So I think the authorities may have regarded your wife as someone who does not RESPECT the laws here and abide by it.

@bro samseng27

I agree with bro Mayoress. There is zero chance of her being let in.

How did this work permit holder kena HIV while her Singapore citizen husband boh?, must be what ICA is asking themselves. Only conclusion is she is FL or FB to others, whicheverway u look at it, to let this person back in will endanger even more Singaporeans, whether cheongsters who bonk her as WL or her FBs in Singapore.
