You are mistaken as it is not pronounced in the south or the north as you have described.
to be accurate i believe etcetera is van van or vān vān, di vong vong means go around here and there...vang vang could mean wine or gold...I post using english rather than try and be localised and use wrong words, isnt the whole point of this forum is clear communication?
