In fact, I know of a few sporeans and msians like that... suddenly they act like beggars when they land in vn. They would learn the bus routes, eat at the dirtiest roadside stalls etc. One even got into an argument with a taxi driver over a few hundred dongs (which the driver usually keep as tips). I have yet to understand this sudden change in mindset...
