Those were the days after Glasnost/Gorbachev when Russia was the wild wild west in Democracy/Free trade.
The Russians I was asking about are those of the 2010's who had made pots of money/are the nouveau riche who traveled all over SE Asia (or at least for sure Thailand) splurging everywhere they went and buying holiday homes in Phuket etc.
Since the economic sanctions imposed by the US/Europe, the Russian ruble had tanked and there's a lot less Russians in Thailand. Same phenomenon in Vietnam?
