it is really eye opening to see the condition the 'natives' live in, even though they dress up posh and look nice and presentable.
even in Manila, where out of the 100 million national population, 3 million reside officially in that cramped place called "NCR", most live in extremely deplorable conditions.
And that eye opening visit generally helps to place the pinays in the right context, for example, seeing them in bars, looking like models, try visiting them back home and it will make you weep.
And back to Flor, well, Filipinos can be nice if and when the want to be, and can turn real nasty when they want to.
Bringing up Flor Contemplacion etc is a sign that you have outlived your invitation. Or the natives are on to something- even though everybody in Philippines sort of remember Flor Contemplacion, nobody will bring it up, as there are other good stuff about Philippines.
If it had gone on, the next one would me "we know Singaporeans eat Human Fetus .. " - No kidding. (never mind Filipinos eat the 'fetus' of ducks .. )
And on and on it will go
Anyway, as I said before, the only places i take Jeepney or city bus are places far far away from Manila,
