Yes, while it may be arguably biased, and may suggest that husbands don't do as much as their wives in the care of their baby, even in couples where the husbands helps out, I'm inclined to think that the woman's maternal instincts kick into overdrive putting sex down the priority list until maybe some months or years later, or maybe her libido never returns. (I have seen this in real life couples I know.) After finishing her maternal leave and returning to work, working hard to catch up on her stalled career path can also make her exhausted hence killing off the libido. The husband may also find himself working harder and longer due to parenthood.
Many parenting articles say that in the first few years of a child's life, up to about 3 to 4 years, most parents will sleep-deprived due to the baby. Babies and even toddlers can awake at night and cry. Some experts suggest a theory that infants (up to 1 year old) cry at night to stop/disrupt parents having sex so as to not produce a sibling too soon so that it gets sole attention and more resources.
Being human beings does not make us different from other species in the natural world where in many species that produce a litter of young, there is competition between the young for survival, a matter of survival of the fittest. Some young will die off as cruel as it sounds.
