Hate to say this... but I think you are absolutely clueless when it comes to VN... and it's best u stick to Geylang.
For others reading this... I would like to offer this analogy.
Some may like going to the aircon supermart to get their groceries. The prices are all clearly tagged in English and u take what u want and pay at counter. No hassles for foreigners... but prices have already been marked up.
Some may prefer the wet market where locals go... even though it means getting your shoes dirty and shoving with the crowds... but u know you will be getting the freshiest vege straight from the farms. And some haggling over prices is expected.
It's up to the individual where he wants to go shopping. No right or wrong, just a matter of preference.
