"Shootout" (Marine & Riverside)
=======================by bro micmac888
riverside @punggur is ah kau punggur ...., their taste, style, technics are time time tested. and it seems that ah kau's signature dish 'assam pedas' has been left out (maybe ibu doesn't like it?)....distance has always been the
Only draw back for ah kau.
I apologize for not having to try marine seafood since they took over the current location from a used car dealer some time back..despite the fact that I past them by couple of times a day. I'm sure that crowd mentality does play a part in my decision...then again great food are not measured by cost, weight or distances alone...a general consensus, word of mouth that induce repeat customers is what make good food great. fresh ingredients always is a plus point but it is consistency in the taste that prevails. riverside is hidden in one corner of batam and into its second generation. the taste is still there despite the change of hands and from a wooden structure restaurant to a concrete one.
bengkong laut (933/555), rezeki@batu besar, setia budi@nongsa, hai-o@marina park, ah kau punggur, barelang jambatn4 and 6, tg piayu and batu merah etc has always been the pillars of batam seafood scene. one may despise them but their presence today since their humble beginning is definitely a testament itself.
food scene evolve (A1 and Nagoya foodcourt are history)and cooking style /taste advances(rica rica ikan panggang also history..sic!)but there will always be a slot for newcomers.
anyway,there are few eating place on the right of jambatan 4 bareleng (direction from jambat 1).. 2 are up for take-overs, let me know if anyone is interested.

I shall make a serious effort to drop by marine for dinner ...i promise.
oh and its seems that most recent eating place's bill photo-ed is flouting current indo laws....the govt tax is missing!
