There is quite afew other sources online too.. They urge people to play water at certain areas only.. and also limit the size of the water guns.. they actually took larger guns away from people in silom, bkk..

As for pattaya, they celebrated during the 3 days of national holiday, but there are extra celebrations for Wan Lai, on monday and tuesday.. which us tourist still call it songkran.. even the orphanage that i arranged to visit, suggested i go on monday, as the children will be celebrating Wan Lai on tuesday at the beach road.

I think its not a this year only thing, every year also same i think.. but this year the government assigned "official" places for water fights, but knowing the thai people during songkran, everywhere is a battlefield!
