Went to HCM for the first time over the weekend. Managed to hit a few spots on the way. Wrote this ASAP so I won’t forget much details.

Took VietJet because it was cheaper than Tiger or Jetstar. Didn’t have much expectations, but all in all, no significant delay, decent leg room, nothing to complain about. Wouldn’t mind to take it again if I need to go next time.

Used Uber for all my travelling needs in the city, I would say it’s very useful because you can input your destination exactly and then you don’t really have to explain much to your driver who might speak close to zero English. Rates are pretty decent too.

Stayed at Nguyen Khang Hotel just off Pham Ngu Lao. Clean room with all the basic amenities, WiFi was good too. Few points to note, no elevator so try not to get room at level 4 or 5, you have to take off your shoes before heading up to your room. Since this hotel is tucked in an alley, you don’t really hear noise from Pham Ngu Lao or especially Bui Vien behind.

First spot I hit was Vien Dong on Sunday 1230am. Reached, up the stairs on the left side of the lobby and you you will right in front of the spa. Through the door and I asked for the VIP room (680k for 2 hrs). The bellboy originally told me that it will be a 45 mins wait, but I was ushered in after 30, so that was good. Saw Japanese, Koreans and Vietnamese guests coming in and out. Saw few VIP masseuse peeking out from the VIP area door to deposit their tip sheet, most are definitely quality stuff. Steam bath, sauna, shower, massage were good, nothing really extraordinaire. Tipped my lady 500k, understood that other bros managed to tip less, but I couldn’t get her to budge. After a long day, I just needed a release. All done by the 2 hr mark, back to hotel and crashed.

Sunday 11am I was at Nguyen Phi Khanh for the hot toc. Uber dropped me at the Vo Thi Sau entrance and I walked in. A few of the men outside tried to call me in and I decided to go for 84. Entered the place and chose a spinner that was sitting down on a reclining chair of some sort. She took off her earphones, grabbed me by the arms and led me upstairs. At this point I didn’t check the rate nor they bother to mention it. In the room she asked me to strip and then I lied down on the massage table. She started by cleaning down there and auto pull down her dress. On to the job, free roam and full BBBJ with CIM finish. Got offered water at the end and she led me down after cleaning up. Downstairs I just gave 400k, no questions asked, straight out of the door.

Uber my way to the airport and back to Singapore. An interesting trip definitely, left with many places that I haven’t explore yet. Like Bui Vien, I didn’t really get the vibe, so I didn’t get much impression there. Until the next time I have the chance (or need) to visit HCM!
