I was there once but it was about 10 years ago. It was clean then, no development yet. We could only find one restaurant on the whole island. And that one closed early. We were their only customers.
The area they mention mainly is by the airport and not a place many would go to the beach, but in the article it says all beaches there are like that, and if that's the case then obviously not worth a visit. if they get the problem solved, it's quite a naturally beautiful place, fun to drive around on motorbike. I remember we drove up one side road near the main beach/cove and drove up and up, suddenly popped out at the top in the middle of an army camp with soldiers everywhere. Oops.
