Since I usually have a lot of free time on my hands, I'm gonna try to have a go at being a 'writer'. As this's my first story, please be kind. The characters/storyline may or may not be fictitious, but as long as the story is enjoyable, it shouldn't matter.

Gin was a Chinese girl born in the 80s in a small family. Being an only child, she was the apple of her parents' eyes. That fact however, didn't make her a spoilt child. Gin had a strict upbringing under the watchful eyes of her mom and the focus was always on studies. Gin however, was never the studious type. She tried, sure she did. But it was never quite enough to make her parents proud.

Like all other young girls in a mixed gender primary school, the very early stages of puberty made Gin very confused about the changes to her body and started to realise the raising interest of boys in school. She was 11 then.

Coming from a middle class family, both of Gin's parents held full time jobs and Gin was left home alone most of the time. Her primary school was a mere 10 minutes walk away from home and she has to make hourly calls from the landline to her mom when she's back home to ensure that she stays home.

It was another typical day at home and the blazing weather was making Gin restless and bored at home. She wanted to watch some TV and perhaps take a nap thereafter. However, the humid air was making it hard for Gin to be comfortable in the living room. There was only air conditioning in the bedrooms and she she didn't have a TV in her room. Gin then went into her parents room, switched the aircon on and turned the TV on. What came on screen was not the usual TV channel, but an option to play a DVD that was in the player. Back then, the options for playback was pretty limited to just 'Play' or 'Eject'. Gin read the title onscreen 'Crimson Danger'.. interesting, she thought. Since there was nothing good that was airing, she pressed the 'Play' button on the remote.
