Reading about the incidents of extortion, robbery and the difficulties of getting services during this period, I had previously advised all bros to give Batam and Balai a miss until a few days after Ramadan. Do not take the chances and it is just not worth the while to go to these places now. Stay in Singapore or go further north to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Philippines or even China.
