Huh? 60k to 80k rupiah from Harbour Bay? I am surprise they price it at that. Then it is no wonder they do not have business. Kind of deserve it.
I pass by harbour bay during the noon time,an old Indo uncle speaking in English was touting ,telling me business has been very bad. Everyone were either having hotels picking the tourist up,or friends pick up or pre-booked taxi drivers picking them up and/or regular Batam visitors were mostly using online taxi which they as taxi driver also find it difficult to tell them apart,hehehe... (conventional taxi and Go Car taxi actually looks quite similar in appearance)
The 30k rupiah taxi rides from Harbour Bay does boost their business a little tho,but well,according to him is just a little (it will take time for most people to change their habits of traveling tho). Not a very significant increase. I wondered why so too.
Then later i find out some hotels inside Harbour Bay were offering 35k taxi rides for the exact area from long before the 30k rupiah offers (i took a photo from one of the hotel's taxi charges,which i shall only post out when i get back to Singapore or whenever i am free). Not to mention more hotels away from Harbour Bay were also offering free/cheap pick ups from ferry terminals too.
(many dont really like taxi drivers in Batam,just go online and you see taxi getting complained were plentiful and otherwise why many were looking for "reliable" taxi drivers)
So now, Harbour Bay ferry terminal passengers become smarter since their choice increased. Not forgetting, passenger can also take taxi from passengers who just drop off at the departure hall too,hehehe....
See,i can be as long winded as you now,hehehe...i enjoy dwelling in a certain area to try to find out more,hence i prefer details when i describe it.
