After reading some of the replies here about bargirl and tips etc. I got very confused about HCM city. My experience drinking with my Vietnamese colleagues is very different from what is described here leh, in term of price difference and cafe ambience at least. Maybe I was drinking just outside D1, in Phunhuan district, and with a friend, but it is not that far out from district 1 , yet the experience is so much different. HCM is very explorable and interesting.
