here are some thoughts after this morning's game:
- man u started quite brightly, passed the ball around with purpose, teammates overlapping on the flanks, many chances created but finishing is still poor
- hojlund announced himself on the EU stage with 2 goals, a bullet header and cool chip over the GK, played well as SC in holding the ball up and bringing teammates into play
- tale of 2 halves for amrabat, played well in the 1st half, but in the 2nd half, was caught out of posn in the lead up to 2nd goal, and his bad pass led to Gala 3rd goal
(it is bad luck that all 3 DLs are injured at the same time, amrabat bravely filled in at DL, but he is new to the squad and unfamiliar with the defensive setup)
- take of 2 halves for rashford, played quite well in the 1st half, provided assist for hojlund, took on defender 1on1 with some success, but he was left to rue his decision to pass instead of shoot in the 53min, really need to improve his decision making as its affecting his form
- defending was abysmal, poor communication, awareness and positioning, the defenders played as if its they're playing together for the 1st time, totally inexcusable; 1st goal, high ball wasn't dealt with by varane or dalot, and then dalot was totally outmuscled by zaha; 2nd goal, nobody tracked akturkoglu's run; 3rd goal, amrabat made a bad pass but he was last man and the 2DCs were too high up and out of position
- mentality: can see man u is still buay steady when under opponent high press. also, conceding after taking the lead, the inability to hold on is really facepalm
- onana horror pass which led to penalty and casemiro red, what was he thinking?

- the midfield and defence are so porous currently that maybe its time for ETH to switch to 5-3-2 formation temporarily until the injury crisis is over, really need to stop the rot, otherwise no difference from OGS era
