Bro old car, i think you are too good already. Give her US$1k +++, do you know that kind of money when you invest every month into unit trust or other investment, you could get a lot more after a period of time.
I think you can tell her you kana sack or retrenced. Then got a even lower pay job, and can give her only $300 - $500 Sing dollars, if she cannot take it, then forget it. A monthly pay for Vietnamese working in HCMC which i had encountered when i go there was only $170 sing (not including food and lodging - to be pay by themself).
So if you give her $300 - $500 monthly, i would say it is very good already but of course would also depends her family is from Urban or Rural Area.. Country side would be cheaper..
