The Straits Times reported that `Four in 10 S'poreans marry foreigners'. Some extracts from the report:
`Of the 20,775 marriages involving at least one citizen, 8,086 Singaporeans were hitched to non-citizen spouses. Of the 8,086 people, 6,200 were men and 1,886 were women. '
The report further stated that ` the largest group of Singaporean male singles are usually lower educated while the female singles are usually higher educated'
The typical idea that Singaporeans have about vietnamese spouses are that they married singaporean man with low income and low education, just to gain resident status in Singapore. Maybe its the large number of marriage agencies offering vietnamese brides. To illustrate how singaporeans are KPO and look down on Vietnamese spouses:
Just recently, my neighbour found out that my wife is vietnamese and she asked me why i hire 2 maids to do housework? she asked me if the marriage agency told me vietnamese spouses can do housework themselves? KNN, i shoot her down immediately. I told her that whether i employ 1 , 2 or 3 maids doesn't concern her and i didn't BUY a viet wife. I told her her statements showed that she's damm ignorant!!
BTW, the newspaper always show old hagged singaporean woman with SWM. Always showing how good it is to marry SWM. I think its time they show how the SWM turns nasty and divorce the Singaporean woman in the shortest time.
