The stupid incident happen is after i reached Pratunam area, there is a guy seems like very friendly to give me an advice after he saw me caring BKK map, he asked where I go, I said I want to go to Bazaar, so he advise me not to go there if i only want to by small amount because that is for wholeseller, instead he advise me to go visit Lucky Buddha templer because it is only open once a week on Mon only, and Tu-Tu (those wearing blue jacket wiht some police badges) will charge only 40bath wherever i go because of Buddha day, after his persuasion so i decided to take his advice.
After I reach there, not much tourist over there, so i tot may be noon time lesser people, and still never suspect this is beginning of SCAMS, i proceed to make prayer there. I met a thai chinese guy after prayer, he speak quite good english, he claimed he is born in teo chew family, father died when he only 1 year old (I doubt the father he tot is his genuine father, may be actually the neighbour uncler is his father), he said he worked in ST company in Ang Mo Kio, he came back to BKK because one jeweller company having annual sales for public (which they normally sell to merchant like Soo Kee, Lee Hwa, Tiffany & co), 30% discount instead of 130% tax if u bought for personal use, we can make profit if we buy from this company and sell to Lee Hwa & Soo Kee, he even shown me the bill that in US$2550. Immediately my greedy mind took over my normal mind, so i took the tu-tu to go there.
I reached there shortwhile (so it should still at Pratunam area), YinDee Lapidary, one old chinese lady also repeat same story as the chinese guy, said the offer only until 2pm, everyone only entitle to buy 4 pieces from them, she recommend blue saphire because Thailand is one of the country mining blue saphire, if want to buy cheap gems must buy in origin place. In the end, I bought a BHT89,900 bracelet.
I leave there happily thinking if i can get 50% profit then i can come BKK over n over again in future.
I went back to hotel at that night after some shopping, I check in internet about this company, and I realized I already kena conned, it was a sleepless nite, not because of the amount of money but because of my stupidity & greedy. I went back to the company and threathen them I will call police to investigate, although it is useless, thai police is corrupted, they wiill happily collect more kopi money from this merchant instead of helping tourist to get back money, they agreed to pay me back 80% of the money (I ask for 90%, they said only 70%) after 3 hrs argument, they issued me a credit voucher and promise it will credit back to my credit card in 10 days time, I have asked them to clearly indicate in the invoice that they refund me 80%, so tat i can report to SG police & raise dispute to the charge to my card issuer should the credit didn't happened in 10 days time.
Lesson learned, I will not listen to any local in any place I go in future, especially developing country like Thai, they are not Land Of Smile, they are Land of Scams, from jeweller, taxi, pigeon feeding and etc, they are fake buddist, they do not really respect their King, they can tell lier in from of the Buddha & their King photo.
I am sorry if i have posted in the wrong place, and may be some brothers already mentioned this before (I didn't follow this thread from beginning to end), just serve as reminder, may be Boss can posted some info on top of forum, we share cheonging info also because we do not want bro here suffer monetary/mentality loss unnecessary.

Same kind of jewelery scam I encountered many many years ago when I first cheonged Bangkok. But you were luckier than me, I bought the whole sapahire set c/w necklace, earrings and bracelet. Costs abt 20,000 thb.
I only realised that I was conned when I tried to sell the sapphire at the pawnshops here. When I reported the case to the Thai Embassy hoping to get my money back, the counter lady showed me 2 thick files of reports of jewelery scam lodged by others.

Few months ago , I was conned of 1500 thb in Chiangmai. Got one Ah pek holding a Singapore Passport said he lost his wallet at the market. Need money to buy train and bus ticket back to Singapore. Seeing so old and pitiful, I lent him the money. We exchanged phone nos and he also gave me his address. Turned out that his no. and addresses are fake when I tried to contact him when I came back.

There are lots of scams happening in Thailand. So always think twice before gicing your money or credit card to someone else. The acting skills of these conmen are as good as winners of Oscar awards.
