Yo Bro Tumakan, please allow me to share my humble experience with you.
1) Guest houses are cheaper but usually the rooms are fairly small and basic.
2) Guest houses do not provide safety boxes; not provided in the room, and rarely if at all, provided in the reception.
3) Guest houses do not have security guards.
4) Places like Liquid Lounge and Queen Victoria are located above or next to beer bars, that will open until very late into the night (early morning), and the music will be blasting all the time. So ensure you ask reception for a quiet room in the guest house, away from the music.
5) I have personally stayed in Nova Park Service Apartment located off Soi 2 last month. It is a great place with big rooms, very nice swimming pool; they have a pub that serves western food and excellent buffet breakfast for Bht 150 per person, and there are small food stalls in front of the hotel that open until 4.00 am. Big disadvantage is that it is far away from the main road, i.e. you have to know how to take motor bike taxi from the main road.
6) If you are a newbie, I suggest that you stay in the hotels or guesthouses that are located along the main Song Teow routes. This way, you just have to hop on to any song teows and ring the bell when you reach your destination. After a while, you will become familair with the roads, and you can choose to stay a little outside the main perimeter.
7) Soi Diana and Soi Buakhow are good places to stay as the hotels are cheaper and there is a lot of happening go-gos, beer bars and FL at night.
8) Careful when you walk the street and take the song teows late at night, especially when you are tipsy or drunk; there are a lot of dishonest and desperate criminals waiting to pickpocket you, or even rob you with a weapon.
Enjoy yourself and chiong safe always.
With regards from jimmycool.
