The effective delivery of the message is also very much dependent on the actual person himself, especially if he has a (*quote from above) "Blur & Innocent" look as compared to a maniacal Mafia face look
A simple illustration would be Mark Lee vis-a-vis Bryan Wong both saying the same sentence, which would you deemed to be the polite one?
