The following is a Field Report of a clean massage place that is worth trying if you happen to be in Hanoi. I was introduced to this place by Bro Deptrai4u.

The place is mainly patronised by locals. Men's section on the first floor and women's section on the upper floors.

After paying VND200,000 (SGD 13.30), you are directed to a bathroom where there are open cubicles for a bath. You can use can use the shampoo, soap provided if you want to. Hot water shower is available.

Once your body is clean, you go to the next room where you immerse yourself into a very large wooden barrel of some hot "herbal soup". While inside, you can sip on some refreshing and detoxifying grass drink.

Ten minutes later, you move from your barrel into a long bath tub next to it. Now you soak in another "soup". The water here is so hot I thought my balls would end up half cooked!

Next, you can go into a dry sauna and wet sauna. Since I am not used to this, I couldn't take more than five agonising minutes inside.

When you come out, cool yourself with some water, towel dry yourself and get ready for your massage. There are young men around to help you get towels or drinks or direct you to the correct places if you need their help.

The massage is done inside individual rooms with sliding doors which allow people to view what is happening inside. The massuse assigned was a woman in mid 20s, looks 5/10. Since this is strictly clean place, who cares? What is important is that over the next hour, she gave a thorough and skilled massage.

I must admit, the decor of the place is rather old and is not what some samsters are used to in terms of "hygiene". This place cannot be compared with those Banyan Tree Resorts Spa that have nice decor but charge super high prices for essentially the same thing.

The only drawback from this experience is this: After you have experienced this standard of massage, those other places that offer "extras" seem to be a waste of time and money.

For newbies to Hanoi, this clean massage place is definitely worth a visit.
