Last night I brought a vb from a JC pub to Malacca Hotel. The counter lady quickly asked me where the vb was from, and that the police would quite often conduct raids on the hotel late at night. Another man behind the counter kept persisting that I take the 1 hour transit at $25, instead of the normal 2 hr transit at $30. For the first time with this hotel, I was made to feel very unwelcomed.

What I don't understand is what crime am I or the vb is committing by going to the hotel? I'm not married, so the police can't ask for my wife to come down. I'm aware that the vb is here on a social visit pass, and not allowed to work. But I can say that she came to the hotel with me not for work, but because we have a liking for each other.

I'm puzzled. Pardon my ignorance, but can any kind brother explain to xiao di here what crime have me or the vb committed? Thank you so much.
