The 2014 FIFA WC will be the 20th FIFA WC, an international association football tournament tat is scheduled 2 take place in June/July 2014 in Brazil.
Tis will be the 2nd time the country has hosted the competition, the 1st being the 1950 FIFA WC. Brazil will become the 5th country 2 hv hosted the FIFA WC twice, aft Mexico, Italy, France & Germany. It will be the 1st WC 2 be held in South America since the 1978 FIFA WC in Argentina, the 1st time 2 consecutive WCs r staged outside Europe & the 1st time 2 consecutive WCs r staged in the Southern Hemisphere (the 2010 FIFA WC was held in South Africa).
On 7 March 2003, FIFA announced tat the tournament would be held in South America 4 the 1st time since Argentina hosted the competition in 1978, in line with its policy of rotating the right 2 host the WC amongst different confederations. By 17 March 2004, the CONMEBOL associations had voted unanimously 2 adopt Brazil as their sole candidate.

With tis development, Brazil became the only official candidate 2 host the 2014 event. Brazil won the right 2 host the event on 30 October 2007 as the only country 2 enter a bid.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup will feature 32 teams. 1 place has been allocated 2 the hosts, Brazil. As in 2006 & 2010, no automatic place is given 2 the defending champions (Spain). The remaining 31 places will be determined by a qualification process, in which entrants fr among the other 207 teams fr the 6 FIFA confederations will compete. As in the past, most qualification will be determined within these confederations, with a limited number of inter-confederation play-offs occurring @ the end of the process.
2 date, Brunei, Bhutan, Guam & Mauritania r confirmed as having not entered.
The qualification draw for the 2014 World Cup will be held at the Marina da Glória in Rio de Janeiro on
