CAF qualification route 2 WC2014

52 out of the 53 national associations affiliated 2 CAF hv entered the qualifying 2 determine the continent’s 5 slots 4 the WC 2014.

The proposed format, announced on 16 May 2011, begins with a 1st round of 12 two-legged knock-out ties 2 be held on 11 & 15 November 2011. The ties, involving the 24 lowest-ranked teams according 2 FIFA World Rankings, will be drawn in Brazil on 30 July 2011.

The 12 winners will join the remaining 28 CAF entrants in the 2nd round, which will consist of 10 groups of 4. The winners of each group - held between June 2012 & September 2013 - will advance 2 a 3rd round of 5 two-legged knock-out ties. The 5 winners of these ties - held in October & November 2013 - will advance 2 the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals.

The July 2011 FIFA Ranking will be used 2 seed the teams 4 the 1st 2 rounds, both of which will be drawn in Brazil on 30 July 2011.
