Although they cannot have a proper conversation, my wife will pay attention to what my mums talks to her ... her mandarine improve alot just by staying her 2 mths + , sometimes just curious how they can communicate .... the best part, they can cook together ...  , they go market together sometimes .

They are very strong in learning a foreign language in a very short time especially chinese which i found out.
Some time is the connection and action that break the communication barrier.Both party must really appreciate each other.If your mon treat your wife as her own daughter and your wife treat your mother as her own mother,everything will be smooth for them.Small little bit action of caring for each other is always good.
If either party just want to be superior than the other party,your life will be very tiring,one side is your mom and the other side is your wife.What i feel is vietnamese wife tend to take better care of elderly and more willing to stay together with them when compare to sg girl.
