The draw 4 the finals will take place on October 29, 2011 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
The draw will see the 16 qualified teams being pitted into 4 groups of 4 teams each. The 2 top teams fr each group will qualify 4 the QFs with the winners progressing 2 the SFs & Final eventually.
The 2 hosts were automatically seeded in2 pot 1. The other 14 qualified teams were ranked based on their performances during the last 3 Africa Cup of Nations.
For each of the last 3 African Cup of Nations final tournaments, the following system of points is adopted for the qualified countries:
Winner 7 pts, Runner-up 5 pts, Losing Semi-finalists 3 pts, Losing Quarter-finalists 2 pts & eliminated in 1st round 1pts.
The teams were then divided into 4 pots based on the ranking.
Each group will contain 1 team fr each pot.
