U have internet access? If yes, try pfingo or hoiio. I am using both. Quality is good and cheap.

Which part of Laos your gf is? If Vientiane or somewhere near, she can use Thai sim cos there are Thai signal in Vientiane and some parts of Laos.

Pfingo or Hoiio is about 10cts per min to Laos and 4cts to Thailand

I used to use skype but the rates is not attractive and quality is not up to my expectation. Give hoiio or pfingo a try, both rates are in SGD. Taking Thailand for example, skype charges abt 11 Euro cts.

BTW it is easier to get support from them.
