the counter gal told her that she will only return change in S$ .. but at least she uses exchange rate becoz there's a great different ...
HKD and rmb r abt 10% different now ... they won't even bother abt the exchange rate especially at the restaurants in HKIA ...

bro .... i think u better asked before u make any purchases ...
as far as i know especially taxi driver .. if u reached the destination and request for same currency return, i am pretty sure it's not going to happen and u r in a non-compromise position at that instant ...
purchasing in the shop is okay becoz u can choose not to buy ...
but if u have taken ur food in the restaurant, then again, u r in a non-compromise situation ...
so my advice is better ask first ... dun take things for granted ...
if it's accepted somewhere, doesn't mean it accepted everywhere ...
In hk, they make it clear up front that rmb is 1:1 with hk dollars most of the time. They will use the take it or leave it attitube. But why would anyone wants to use rmb when hk dollar is so easy to get?!

In Macau, the. Most common use currency should be HKD. Only the local use MOP, the exchange rate between these 2 is not much diff.. But I would advise use HKD cause when u change back to sing later the rates will be much much better than MOP. Cause no ppl uses MOP the money changer will have a hard time selling them, so they tends to charge higher rate. Whereas HKD is more widely used and u can get better rates anywhere anytime.

For the shortchange, it mostly happen with taxi drivers and small shop in Macau. Big shop and restaurant mostly no problem. The lose is not much to us, just that no happy with the dirty tactic used lOh... Common among taxi driver around the world.. Even in casino, they have different chips for MOP n HKD. Haha.
