How are you ever a cheap charlie? you constantly do charity work, enlighten the others in this forum abt good deals, food, bars, etc. All these need money to be spent. even internet access needs money to be spent. AND no ball carrying intended here...just stating facts.
In any case, personally I would only term someone as a cheap charlie if he expects more services without due compensation. For instance in a group of friends drinking, if he doesn't pitch in for a round or two, typically he is living off his friends and that is not nice. It does not have to be divided equally, just that he contributes towards the general pot and he should be ok. The amount he contributes is immaterial as each person is not equal. It is more about the thought that counts. No calculators needed here!
So... that being said, I really think there is no cheap charlies around in this thread. A lot of smart cheongsters. People who are out to have fun within their means. People who do not like a fast one being pulled on them and are willing to stand up to it. People who are willing to pay when they feel like it, not because they are obliged.
