Another taxi company banned from Saigon airport

The Ministry of Transport on Thursday suspended another taxi company from operating at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City for various violations, online newspaper VnExpress reported.

Happy Taxi is the third company to be banned from the airport, after Petrolimex Taxi and Festival Taxi .

The decisions were made following an inspection by ministry inspectors that began on December 16 of 11 taxi firms operating at the airport.

Thach Nhu Sy, deputy chief of Transport Ministry’s Inspectorate, said Happy Taxi acquired licenses for 270 taxis, but only more than 100 are operating. It then sold the remaining licenses to other taxi companies in Mekong Delta provinces.

The inspected taxis did not post prices as regulated, he added.

Sy said inspectors found only 100 files of taxi drivers, while the company has 462 drivers.

Inspectors have revoked 168 licenses that the company sold to other taxi firms and suspended the operation of the 168 taxis in other provinces using the Happy Taxi licenses.
