1) Indonesia is the world's biggest exporter of thermal coal sold to other asian countries. Because of the recent fall of coal prices down has led to a sharp fall in export revenues. This has resulted in trade deficit and a drop in attractiveness of the currency and eventually devaluation of the rupiah.
2) In recent news, Spore has decided to appreciate the sing dollar in order to control inflation. Sing dollar will gradually strengthen against other currency including the rupiah.
