The reason why most of my file in MKV container format, coz it can hold more then one audio tracks and subtitle in one file. And recently I downloaded many more movie & series are all already in MKV container format. and some of them packaged more then one audio and subtitle inside. I just need to remove these we don't needed and add a English subtitle if can find. If you needed in MP4... Its add'l process...

Are you having problem playing the file with MKV container format?

Here is the easy way for convert the MKV to MP4 container using VLC Media Player


1. Run "VLC media player".

2. Open a movie to Play and press Stop (this step important, explain later)

3. Now you see the movie name just now loaded are listed on top (Do not remove it!).


4. From main menu select "Media" > "Convert / Save...".

5. On "File" tab, click "Add..." button.

6. Choose you MKV file. After that, it should be added to the list. (Alternatively, you can drag&drop a file into the list.)

7. Click "Convert/Save" button.


8. Select Profile: "Video - H.264 + MP3 (MP4)".

9. Click on the icon button that has hint: "Edit selected profile".


10. On "Encapsulation" tab, leave "MP4/MOV" selected.

11. On "Video codec" tab, check both "Video" and "Keep original video track".

12. On "Audio codec" tab, similarly select both "Audio" and "Keep original audio track".

13. Click "Save" button.


14. In "Destination" selection, click "Browse" button to select directory and file name for you destination MP4 file.

15. Click "Start" button.


16. Observe progress bar below the main window, the video & audio files being copy to the new container. Usually within a minute for file within 2GB.

17. and you should see the 2nd item in the list as "Streaming..."


18. When the progress bar till the end. The software look like hang and no respond. It should be building the index. Just wait around 1-3 minutes, depend on the file size.

19. When the software start to play the first movie on top of the list. Means the convertion finished. Stop the movie play and check the destination folder for the converted file & size and try to play it and check the audio track.

PS: If you skip the step 2, not load a movie on top of the list first. When the convertion completed. The software will keep looping back to the "Streaming...", the player screen keep flashing and can not come out. You need to use Ctrl+Alt+Delete go to Windows Task Manager and kill the VLC Media Player in order to stop it.

That's it...
